This summer, we bring together the strikingly individual work of Mike Bernard RI and Jacqueline Williams NEAC in a captivating two person show that explores the breadth and diversity of contemporary British painting.
Though their artistic languages differ, both Mike and Jaqueline share a deep sensitivity to place, atmosphere, and the emotional resonance of landscape.
Mike Bernard embraces bold semi abstract and mixed media experimentation. His dynamic coastal scenes, bustling harbours, and layered textures reimagine the familiar through a lens of rhythm, colour, and design. Using collage and acrylic, he constructs energetic compositions that are both playful and architectonic.
Jacqueline Williams, by contrast, paints with a quiet intensity. Her work rooted in direct observation is rich with painterly gestures and subtle harmonies. Whether depicting sun drenched interiors or the stillness of everyday moments, her canvases convey an intimacy that is both timeless and immediate.
This exhibition is not a contrast but a conversation a celebration of two distinct voices, each grounded in place yet reaching beyond the visible. Together, their work invites the viewer to consider how differently and beautifully the world can be seen.
