Seren Bell

Seren Bell is a distinguished artist recognised for her beautifully observed drawings of animals, birds and the natural world. Combining exceptional draughtsmanship with a highly individual technique, her work is characterised by intricate detail, subtle colour and an extraordinary ability to capture the character and presence of her subjects.

After studying English and Fine Art at Exeter University, Seren returned to her family's roots in Mid-Wales, where the landscape and wildlife surrounding her continue to provide a rich source of inspiration. Her subjects are drawn from close observation, whether encountered in the landscape, on farms or during visits to agricultural shows and specialist breeders.

Seren's distinctive working method begins with a carefully constructed pencil drawing. Colour is gradually introduced using coloured pencils and crayons before the composition is developed further with finely drawn lines in Indian ink. The resulting works possess remarkable clarity and precision while retaining the expressive qualities of the original drawing.

At the heart of Seren's work is a fascination with the relationship between animals and their surroundings. Birds, cattle, horses and other animals appear alongside woodland, open landscapes, trees and architectural details, creating compositions that are as much about atmosphere and place as they are about the individual subject.

Her work has been widely exhibited and is held in public and private collections in Britain and internationally. These include the Somerset Museum of Rural Life, Newport Museum and Art Gallery and Alcuin College, York, as well as the private collection of His Majesty King Charles III.

In 2024, Seren was elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, recognising her distinctive contribution to contemporary British drawing and painting.
