David Schofield

I love to tell a story, a moment in time or part of an ongoing narrative. Observations of my life and the lives of others work their way through my paintings. Dreamscapes linking the viewer between two worlds, a rendering in paint of a collective subconscious, a window into our deepest desires and fears

David Schofield’s work invites us into a world where memory, place and imagination quietly intersect. David works in oil, hand building layers of colour and tone that suggest rather than define. His compositions often hover between the known and the imagined, with drifting horizons, ambiguous forms and unusual perspectives that draw the viewer into a reflective state of mind. Rather than setting out to depict specific locations, David explores the experience of being in a landscape, how light, atmosphere and memory reshape what we see and feel. There is a calmness in his work, but also a quiet tension: everyday elements are rendered with subtle displacements that make us consider them anew.

Collectors are drawn to David's paintings not only for their atmospheric power but for their capacity to hold space for personal reflection. His work rewards slow looking, revealing depth, nuance and emotion over time.
