Peter Wileman

Peter Wileman is a British contemporary artist renowned for his bold, expressive landscapes and seascapes, where atmosphere and light take centre stage. With a career spanning over four decades, Peter has developed a distinctive style that fuses abstraction and impressionism, capturing the transient moods of nature with an energy that is both visceral and poetic.

Born in Middlesex, Peter began his artistic journey as a graphic designer before moving into fine art, a transition that continues to inform his compositional strength and confident use of colour. His paintings, often created in oil, are layered with luminous tones and dynamic brushwork imbuing familiar scenes with a sense of drama and introspection.

Whether depicting a glowing skyline at dusk or a windswept harbour under shifting skies, Peters work invites the viewer to pause and feel the moment. He paints not simply what he sees, but what he senses, a reflection of the world filtered through mood and memory.

Peter is the former President and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters also an elected member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Society of Arts. His work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally, and is held in numerous private and corporate collections.
